CITY OF MONASH COMMUNITY SURVEY

The City of Monash Council is inviting feedback from the community regarding the draft of the Dog Off-Leash Areas (OLA) Policy.

As part of the provisions directly under the Policy, specialised sport surfaces such as premier A-grade sportsgrounds and synthetic sports surfaces are proposed to become dog-free. Eastern Lions’ home ground Gardiners Creek Reserve’s main NPL turf (Pitch 1) comes under this category of sports venues.

Currently, our main pitch at Gardiners Creek (right outside the Jimmy Williams Stand) is an off-leash dog area. While we understand the need for off-leash areas and know that the Council does provide many spaces for this purpose, it is imperative to the club’s agreement with Football Victoria that our main pitch is maintained to an acceptable standard for the level of competition we have achieved.

We request club members to convey your concerns via the survey regarding the use of our main pitch as an off-leash area, for safety reasons and in the best interests of preserving the ground to a professional standard.
